13 October 2009 - High visitor numbers to Geistlich Symposium at EAO Congress 09
At this year's congress of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) held in Monaco from 30 September to 3 October, Geistlich Biomaterials catered for the high numbers attending with top-class speakers.
During the Geistlich Symposium on 2 October at this year's EAO Congress, Geistlich Biomaterials provided experienced speakers in Prof. Dr. Jan Lindhe and PD. Dr. Frank Schwarz, who gave fascinating insights into their own practice. Under the title "Guidelines for the Practitioner", the congress this year focused mainly on the practical aspects of implantology and regeneration.
Around 900 people took up the invitation from Geistlich Biomaterials, so that the symposium was absolutely packed out. Additional participants followed the talks in an extra room provided.
Prof. Dr. Jan Lindhe presented the latest findings relating to post-extraction treatment. He explained the biological processes that take place after a tooth has been removed. Filling the extraction socket with Geistlich Bio-Oss® can compensate for bone loss and create better conditions for placement of implants.
PD. Dr. Frank Schwarz gave an insight into his methods for treating inflammation of the tissue around implants. He explained that non-surgical treatment of peri-implantitis has only limited efficacy. He recommends using Geistlich Bio-Oss® and Geistlich Bio-Gide® for operative treatment of peri-implant defects.
During the congress, a large number of visitors took the opportunity to find out more about the bone substitute material Geistlich Bio-Oss® and the collagen membrane Geistlich Bio-Gide® on the Geistlich Biomaterials stand. A total of around 3,100 international participants attended the congress, which is one of the most important implantology conferences in Europe. |
