PRESS RELEASE 1 June 2010 - New Brazilian subsidiary extends the Geistlich Pharma family.
Geistlich Pharma AG has set up a subsidiary company in Brazil. From now on Geistlich biomaterials will be available directly on the largest South American market. With the six subsidiary companies Geistlich Pharma AG is continuing its expansion strategy.
Geistlich Pharma do Brasil, the new Geistlich Pharma AG subsidiary based in São Paulo, is now active in the largest South American market. Poul Sorensen, the managing director of the new subsidiary, has been working in the Brazilian dental market for more than 40 years, particularly in the implantology area. With the establishment of the sixth subsidiary, the family company is consistently continuing its geographical expansion strategy. The company has other subsidiaries in the UK, Italy and Germany as well as France and China (both established in 2008).
Successful launch is optimistic
„The sales launch at Geistlich Pharma do Brasil exceeded our expectations," said Mario Mucha with obvious pleasure. As the Chief Operating Officer (COO) he is directly in charge of the subsidiaries. Geistlich Bio-Gide® and Geistlich Bio-Oss®, the leading international biomaterials for regenerative dentistry, are already very well known in South America and are enjoying great popularity. From now on Geistlich products will be available quickly and directly. "We are delighted with the positive reception in Brazil and are optimistic that the initial enthusiasm and drive will continue for some time yet," said Mucha.
Why a new subsidiary in Brazil?
With Brazil, Geistlich Pharma is opening up a market with great economic potential. Setting up the sixth subsidiary is a sign of Geistlich Pharma AG's continuing growth and a supporting pillar for the company strategy. At the same time Geistlich Biomaterials is getting into the new soft tissue regeneration segment and is exploring new application areas for existing products.

The Geistlich family firm has been in existence since 1851.
